FJP Press Release No. (18) FJP Final Candidate List, 2nd Phase

The second phase of the Egyptian People’s Assembly elections 2011-2012 begins on Wednesday. The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) will run this phase with 169 candidates, including 49 for the ‘Individual’ seats and 120 on the Lists, out of a total 180 candidates, 60 for the Individuals and 120 on the Lists.

The FJP stresses that this phase must avoid errors and contraventions of the first phase, so the electoral experience can truly reflect the great civilization and long glorious history of the Egyptian people.

We, therefore, have this to say:

- We call upon all competing parties and rival candidates to deal with the electoral process as one link in the chain of political competition, and not transform the elections into a moral, physical and material war arena, as happened in the first round.

- The FJP emphasises its commitment to alliances, as in the Democratic Alliance for Egypt (DAE).The party confirms that it has not entered any alliances or coalitions with any parties or persons other than the aforementioned DAE. In this context, the FJP is taking notice of the parties and candidates who use its name in the promotion of non-existent alliances in order to trick FJP voters. The FJP will take legal action against such violations.

- The party renews its call for all media, especially those owned by certain businessmen – some of whom are competing with us in the elections – to show commitment to objectivity and impartiality, which requires the media to put Egypt's interests before any other special interests, irrespective of who wins the election.

- The FJP declares its commitment and its members’ commitment to the timetable set for election campaigns and to the rules of campaign silence.

The following are the names of FJP candidates (the Democratic Alliance) in the second phase.
