Dr. Katatni: By Law, MPs Can Withdraw Confidence from Government

Dr. Mohamed Saad Katatni, Speaker of the Egyptian People’s Assembly, asserted that Parliament is legally entitled to withdraw confidence from the government, based on its powers as stated in the Rules of Procedure of the People’s Assembly which sets out procedures for withdrawal of confidence from the government.
During parliamentary sessions, Monday, Dr. Katatni said that ongoing debate of the government's statement at the plenary session is one of the procedures leading to withdrawal of confidence from the government.
Further, Dr. Katatni said, "The Military Council says what it wants; and the Media says what it wants; but we are able to withdraw confidence".
