Dr. Essam El-Erian, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Vice-Chairman, denied as false news that have been circulating through the media claiming he has taken the FJP chairman post. He explained that he is still in his FJP vice-chairman post.

Dr. Erian assured that the selection of a party leader, according to the FJP’s regulations and internal charter, is the prerogative of the FJP’s General Conference, and that so far no date has been set for the convening of this conference.

Dr. Erian added that a statement on the subject posted on the FJP’s official website was the fault of an editor, and that the matter is currently under investigation.
